If you are around Alberta area this summer, there are a few shows that will be worth a visit. I am lucky to be part of all four of these plus the on-line symposium.
In Diamond Valley there is a wonderful Greenhouse called Vales Greenhouse. Ever June they bring 40 artists in to show their work amongst the plants.

Leighton Art Centre is a beautiful art gallery located in the Foothills south of Calgary. It started as a home owned by A.C. and Barbara Leighton both artists. In 1974 Barbara opened the art center and the home is now a gallery and educational facility.
The Sheep Creek Weavers and Fibre Artists started meeting there over 45 years ago with Barbara. They are excited to be hosting a show this summer encompassing many genres of Fibre Art. Featuring works by individual artists as well as collaborative pieces and installations.

The Venue – The High River Performing Arts Foundation is leading the drive to develop a performing arts hub for the town. Since the 2013 flood High River has been without a theatre space.
Currently this open-air space offers regular performances. As well five local artists were juried in to provide outdoor installations displayed at the site.

Night of Artists Gallery and Gifts showing Our Oceans exhibition hosted by Gathering Threads, Edmonton’s premier yarn and fibre arts festival.

An on- line group ‘Curious Mondo’ runs a free Fibre Arts & Textiles Symposium, this runs for 5 days with more than 20 artists presenting 20+ different workshops. It is free to watch them during the week and are available to purchase if wanted.
